This tool is designed to easily remove the jacket from 12-count fiber optic cable, without damaging the underlying fiber.
Here are a few suggestions to help you use it safely and efficiently.
Step 1: Remove the Jacket
1. Place the jacketed ribbon fiber in the stripping station located in the middle of the tool.
2. Close the tool completely, keeping ribbon fiber securely in the stripping station to pierce through the jacket.
3. Grasp the jacket between your thumb and fingers and pull the jacket to remove it.
This method is generally preferred instead of using the tool to force or strip the jacket, which can cause the jacket to bind up on the fiber or Kevlar® yarn.
Step 2: Cut the Kevlar Strengthening Yarn
Use the Miller 86 1/2SF Kevlar® Shears or Miller FOKC, both designed to give fast, clean cuts to cut the Kevlar® strengthening yarn.
